Oliver Ruiz The Play's the Thing: Play and the Child's Sense of Self This article caught my eye because it relates to me. Many of the morals I stand by and also many of my beliefs. Childhood today is not the same as it was many years ago, but as it is expected with time. Is it better or worse than it was in the past? The article thinks worse by my assumption which I tend to agree with most of it. It shows a lot of the negatives about growing up with technology, but there are positives as well. Yes, in today’s world of modern technology and college preparatory classes starting from pre-school children might miss out on some of there child hood. Something I agree to be very negative. Most of my best memories are from my early childhood, playing in the backyard, out exploring my neighborhood with my local gang of friends. Experiences I would not exchange for anything in the world. So being so goal-orientated from an early age might cut some of these experiences out but for a reasonable cause.
