Introduction PERSONALIZE NUTRITION FOR DIABETES - Individual – based on (1) energy needs – below current weight (2) metabolic profile – remove CHO , add MUFA (3) Treatment goals (4) willingness and ability FOOD GUIDE PYRAMID (Exchange list) - Beans/ starchy veggies vs bread - Recommendation i. 50-60% of total calories (CHO) ii. Increase Fiber consumption - Sugar (candie) vs Starch (bread) – EQUAL - Glycemic levels (GI, GL) – Increase Fiber consumption - # of Servings – 6-11 /day ( Serving size matters) II.
