Desegregation first 2 weeks after assassination, Johnson called MLK and other black leaders committed to Civil rights Under his rule, 24 th amendment passed abolished poll tax and embolished in both state and federal election Lyndon very politically savy CRA 1964: in memoriam of Kennedy Under Johnson, finally passed most important piece of legislation end discrimination based on color, religion, sex or national origin conceived to protect rights of american blacks included women Types of Act Equal voting rights-Title 1 prohibit segregation and discrimination in any public place-Title 2 band discrimination by trade union by schools and by employers-title 7 interstate commerse/do business for fed 1972: amenment regarding title 7 cover employees of state and local gov as well CRA:Create equal employment opportunity commission
