Bobby Krivitsky Sally Spalding November 13, 2011 CRS 325 Epideictic Outline Introduction: State the Occasion: When Michael called me and asked if I would do him the honor of inducting him into the NBA Hall of Fame, I was touched. Here I was getting to pay homage to the greatest player in basketball and my best friend, Michael Jordan. As I am surrounded by family and fellow hall of famers, I realize how truly special this day is and can appreciate what must be going through Michael’s head right now. Ethos Statement: I played Michael for ten years. In those ten years, we won six championships and without the leadership and the work ethic of Michael Jordan, we wouldn’t have won one championship. Michael pushed us to be great, to never stop, and made sure that every night we brought our A game. Like most of my teammates, I came to love Mike’s work ethic, as it only made me want to work harder and to improve my game. After the 1989 season, Michael and I began working out together, training for the next season. That offseason I worked harder than I ever had before in my life; and it paid off. The next year we won our first of three straight championships and I was named to my first all-star game. Michael took every one of his teammates game to the next level, making me an all star and a hall of famer when I clearly have no business being either. For all that you’ve done for us Mike, for all that you’ve done for the game of basketball, we are eternally grateful.

Thesis: Michael Jordan is the greatest player in basketball history and he’s also my best friend. Being able to honor him and induct him as the newest member of the NBA hall of fame is almost as big of an honor as getting to play with him and getting to be his friend. Body: I. Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever play this game and it is his strong work ethic that has driven him towards such success. A. As a sophomore in high school, Jordan was cut from the basketball team while his friend and fellow sophomore Harvest Leroy Smith made the squad; good decision coach! It was here that Michael developed his hunger to be the absolute greatest. 1.
