Key descriptive terms: Verbal Cues: self-disclosure, praise, verbal expressions of attention, compliments, change of subject, etc Extended time: it takes roughly 4 minutes of CMC time to communicate what can be done face to face in 1 minute Anticipated future interaction Chronemics (how people orient to and use time) Timely versus delayed responses Synchronous communication: operating at the same time Asynchronous communication: having to wait for a response (not face to face conversation, i.e. facebook, texting). M-Time: organized segments of time (this class starts at 3 30 and goes until 4 50). Work and sleep are other examples. With Sleep you go to bed at a certain time and set your alarm to get up at a certain time. Our culture tends to emphasize monochromic time . To be late implies that we don’t care as well as a lack of time management and that we are poorly organized. Being late is generally viewed negatively. If you are late in our culture you must apologize for being late and have a good excuse.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
