Essays: 1. Ma-at: harmony, political stability, common good, positive power, personified as a goddess Ma-at is the Egyptian form of government and can also be used to define a golden age in Egypt. In Egyptian lure, at the time of creation, Ra the sun god sent his daughter Ma-at to replace isfet and she was chaos. The kings then inherited the duty to make sure that Ma-at stayed in place. The goddess Ma-at exemplifies harmony, political stability, common good, and positive power. This helps to illustrate how in Egypt religion was able to control the masses, as they installed a system of divine monarchy. The idea of Ma=at is easily applicable to the masses given that it exemplifies both political harmony and communal success. Ma-at can also be applied to the individual as it proved to be the driving force that instituted virtue and stability within the individual.
