Nick Pulis SPM 205 Extra Credit 10-3-2011 Lockouts are one of the most detrimental occurrences in sports. There have been many lockouts over the years and most of them were caused by one thing, money. When players begin to get to greedy, or when owners begin to get to greedy, tensions begin to escalade fast. Today, the NBA is about to experience another lockout for the first time since 1998-1999, and for the second time in NBA history it seems that the season is not going to start on time. This strike is looking a lot like the 1998-1999 strike because as Mike Wise said in the Washington Journal; “super rich owner peers can not figure a way to divvy up 4.3 billion dollars.” I believe that this is a terrible move by the NBA. They need to stop and think what happened to the NBA season last time there was a lockout such as this and they must think of the repercussions that will come from this lockout. At the end of the day however, I guess this is just how capitalist America works....
