Jake Stern 12/13/2012 ENG112 Short Paper #1 Throughout my education career, reading has not been one of my biggest passions. I have read a handful of books in my free time, but rarely do I find myself wanting to read. On the other hand, I enjoy writing and personally think it is one of my strongest skills. The English teachers I had throughout high school all really stressed the importance of being a good writer. They also stressed the importance of being a well- rounded writer. The only writing skill that I don’t have much practice in is business writing, which I hope to get better at by taking business courses here at Miami. In high school I didn’t take any special writing courses, but though out my four years, I had a variety of different English teachers which I believe helped me the most. Having different teachers with different teaching methods and writing techniques gave me a broader perspective on writing. I believe the strongest part of my writing is my ability to take a simple topic and
