-My article is titled ‘Global food prices hit record high’. It was written on Feburary 4 th , and was taken from a news site in Aljazeera -I am going to focus on the regions of Africa and Asia in particular Summary: -In Janurary, World food prices have hit their highest level since records began in 1990 -this is according to the United Nations -the Food and Agriculture Organization supplies most of the information in the article -their Food Price Index rose for the 7 th month in a row, reaching a high at 231. The former record high was an index of 224 -economists believe these prices are likely to persist in the months to come -this article ties in the recent revolts in Africa, by saying that the rising food prices have been cited among the driving forces behind the revolts in northern Africa, including Egypt and Tunisia -in response to the high food prices, some countries are increasing food imports and are stockpiling to meet their needs -Among these countries is Algeria.
