Michael Reber Informative Speech Outline 2/25/11 Specific Purpose – I want to inform my audience about the future of energy and why we need an energy breakthrough Thesis statement – Today I am going to inform you the problem of carbon emissions from energy production and the breakthroughs needed to implement systems that will be efficient and effective. Introduction Attention Catcher – From speakers in basements to the microwave in your kitchen, do you ever wonder where the energy comes from to power your everyday devices? Does it come from the new wind farm off of 1-90 or from the Centralia coal fired power plant? Relevance link – Today energy production accounts for the most carbon emissions and our generation needs to expand on clean energy production systems to help our environment. Credibility – After researching on energy production I have found out that the majority of the US is moving to renewable sources of energy. National Conference of state legislatures states “In the 29 states with renewable electricity standards, utilities are more likely to focus on renewable energy before they invest in building new conventional power plants.” Preview – I am going to go over carbon emissions from energy production and I will also be informing you about possible solutions to our energy problem, energy farming or renewable energy and Nuclear energy.
