Syllabus: Principles of Economics: Macroeconomics Course Information Course: ECO 201 Sec 001 (Code: 0786) Semester: Spring, 2012 Classroom: HW 214 Instructor: Andrew Silverstein Email: asilverstein@gc.cuny.edu Office: 1548HW Office Hours: Monday 4:30-5:30 and by appointment Textbooks: Macroeconomics, Principles and Applications Hall and Lieberman (South-Western, Cengage) I will put the necessary course material online (to be explained the first day of class). Course Description: This is an introductory course on Macroeconomics. We will cover Macroeconomic concepts including growth; business cycles; inflation; unemployment; monetary and fiscal policy. The main focus will be on theory but there will also be attention paid to empirical evidence. Grading: There will be two midterms and a final exam. Please note that absence from an exam without previous notice will only be excused with documented evidence of serious illness or emergency. Please make plans in advance to avoid missing any exam.
