of this paper is to describe Kenya and define the health issue of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). I will then, describewhich of the social determinants of health are impacting this health issue. Lastly, I will describe the global health indicators used to identify this health issue as a priority.Country and Health IssueKenya is a developing country in East Africa where there is a large population who lives in poverty. Majority of the population in Kenya are dealing with high burdens of infectious diseases and poor living conditions. One of the leading health issues in Kenya is the prevalence of HIV cases reported for the country. The country of Kenya has the joint third largest human immunodeficiency virus epidemic in the world. This epidemic is due to the poverty rates in Kenya, lack of resources, and decreased access to health care. In Kenya there are 1.6 million people living with HIV and more than half who are unaware that they are living with this disease
