Financial Statements 2 Financial Statements There are four financial statements that we have been discussing. They are the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and the retained earnings statement. The income statement follows the revenue, expenses, and the net income following those. The balance sheet reports the companies’ assets, liabilities, and the shareholder’s equity. The cash flow statement shows the track record of where the cash of the company is coming from and where it is going. The statement of retained earnings shows the retained earnings of the company at the beginning and the end of that specific accounting period. Net income and dividends are used in order to obtain the retained earnings statement. Which financial statement, or statements, would be of most interest to investors?
