Organs *Do Anatomy in lab in detail. Should be able to development, muscles, and digestion by next week. Two different lines represent what the lady was able to do (red and blue lines). Why was the woman able to generate more force than the man?--> She was using her entire hands, she’s using her cross sectional area. The man had a much small cross-sectional area of muscle tissues (so, not able to generate much force). Why does force start out high and keep going low? Because muscles are fatiguing. The muscles that are generating that fast rapid energy: fast- , fast- oxidative, etc. If you use each of your fingers, you’re using less and less of your cross- sectional area (the guy). The pointer generates the most force, but your middle finger has the greatest force generator. “No pain, no gain:” Exercise is to increase the area of cross sectional area to generate force. Muscle fiber types are not the same. When you start using your muscles, you’re bringing blood to the muscle. If you’re going to use oxidative fibers, they need a lot of blood because it has oxygen why do you need oxygen? It is the terminal electron acceptor. We need to be able to constantly generate that ATP. If you’re going to go and use your muscles, you need to be supplying them with blood because it’s carrying not only oxygen, but also nutrients such as glucose and need to get accumulated waste products out of there. Your body is going to send blood to the muscles that are being used and they will become bigger because you just filled them up with blood. If you go to the gym every other day, your body says, “I’m going to use these muscles a lot,” so you have more blood going into them on average, so they look more defined and they will not fatigue as fast less likely to fatigue. An exercise routine should be like that. If you start running and playing, at the end of the day you start to feel a little bit sore. Being sore does not mean that you’ve torn something. Why do you feel sore after you exercise? Because you can’t get enough oxygen in there you end up with generating lactic acid in your cells it’s an irritant (when you get into lactic acid fermentation, you are going to feel sore). If you want to get yourself to the point where you are a little bit sore, body will increase vascularization into your muscles so the next time you don’t get to that point. You decrease the rate at which you’ll fatigue. You are just getting the ability to get
