7. Based on your class measurements of length and width of the Paramecium in both the permanent dry mount and the prepared stained wet mount: (a.) Determine the mean length and the mean width of the paramecia you observed. (b.)Calculate the standard deviation of the length and the width of the paramecia you observed. (c.) Construct a bar (column) graph of the mean and standard deviation of paramecia in the permanent dry mount and the prepared stained wet mount. (d.)Using online resources, locate a reported value for a typical length and width for the paramecia species you observed.

Unformatted text preview: Are your values comparable? Why or why not? We found a website with measurements of different types of paramecium. The length of the paramecia ranges from 120 μm to 300 μm and the width ranges from 50 μm to 180. The values we measured and the value we found are in fact comparable because it lies within the ranges posted on the website. One of the measurements given in our online resource was 156 μm by 36.4 μm. That is relatively close to the values we found.
