Developing Annual rate of growth is increasing cause the gap between birth rates and death rates is widening In 1775, the rate of growth for a developing country was .4% that was a different time Developing countries have been growing rapidly for the past 60-70 years Developed In 1775, developed countries were growing faster than developing, opposite of what happening today. Birth and death rates are coming down together. The gap is closing. Why are death rates coming down? Hygiene, medicine, better food supply What are birth rates coming down? Desired number of children is going down The use and knowledge of birth control Immigration will cause populations to grow more. If people are leaving, the population will decline. The US has had huge fluctuations in immigration rates. Over a million people in 1907, then dropped, then back up again. Growth per generation (not per year): A generation is the average time between the birth of females and the birth of their female offspring. If all women have a female offspring at the age 20, 25, and 30, the generation time would be 25.
