Project Guidelines – United States History to 1877 OBJECTIVE : To create an original research project that investigates a period, era, theme, or event in early American history from Native America through the Reconstruction Period. Groups need to create a central thesis for the project and the research and presentation should prove/explain your thesis and the period/era/theme/or event. PROJECT TOPIC EXAMPLES: Bacon’s Rebellion and the roots of Anti-Colonial dissent The impact of the antislavery Movement THE PROJECT REPORT : The project report is an extremely important aspect of the project. It serves to show what you have achieved and should demonstrate or include: Your group understands the wider context of your research project. The approach your group took to create the project. In other words, the methodology. The abstract should be a brief summation of your project and its thesis. Include background and contextual information. Show that your group effectively and objectively scrutinized and investigated your topic. Show that you know what it is you’re talking about Include an annotated bibliography not a works cited or a just a list of sources. TITLE PAGE:
