Unformatted text preview: DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT In this project, you are being asked to evaluate eight computer companies based solely on the information from the model you will be constructing. You are to assume that you have $100,000, and using the information from the model, you are to: (1) identify which two companies you would purchase; (2) how much you would invest in each of the companies (you have to invest in two companies and you have to fully invest the $100,000); (3) explain why you picked the two companies; and (4) why you chose the allocation you chose. INSTRUCTIONS The template will enable you to build this model. The template contains 11 tabs. A description of each tab and the work that you must complete is set forth below: 1. Requirements Tab provides general description of what you will need to complete in the model 2. Market Data contains accurate market information for the eight computer companies that you will be evaluating. It was downloaded from Google Financial Information on August 20, 2011. Do not change this information. The Average, Median, and Standard Deviation for the market data provided has been calculated; however, you need to insert the cell formulas that result in those calculations 3. Cash Analysis contains data categories and various cash analysis ratios (i.e. accounts receivable turnover, inventory turnover, etc.) for each of the 8 companies that you will be evaluating Data for Dell and Apple has been provided; however you need to build a link between this data and the source of the data (the 10K tabs for each company) Cash analysis ratios for Dell and Apple have been provided; however you need to build cell formulas for each calculation For each of the other six companies, you need to build a link between each data category in the cash analysis and the 10 K tabs for each company and import the data into the section of the cash analysis for each company.....NOTE.....You will need to complete the 10K tabs for each company before you can complete this For each of the other six companies, you will need to build cell formulas for the cash analysis ratios and calculate the ratios For all eight of the companies, you need to include the Company Link from Edgar 4. Dell 10K contains data needed to complete the cash analysis. This information was imported from Dell's 10K off of EDGAR. You need to build cell formulas for each of the ratios on this tab and calculate the ratios. (The description of how to calculate each ratio is provided.) 5. Apple 10K contains data needed to complete the cash analysis. This information was imported from Apple's 10K off of EDGAR. You need to build cell formulas for each of the ratios on this tab and calculate the ratios. (The description of how to calculate each ratio is provided.) 6. Oracle 10K You need to construct data cells for and import the same data from Oracle's 10K off of EDGAR that was imported from Dell's and Apple's 10Ks. (The link to Edgar is provided under the Dell section under the Cash Analysis Tab, it is titled "Company Search") You need to construct ratio cells for the same ratios that are included in Dell's and Apple's 10k tabs; build cell formulas for each of the ratios; and calculate the ratios. 7. Microsoft 10K You need to construct data cells for and import the same data from Microsoft's 10K off of EDGAR that was imported from Dell's and Apple's 10Ks. 8. Cisco 10K You need to construct data cells for and import the same data from Cisco's 10K off of EDGAR that was imported from Dell's and Apple's 10Ks. 9. Silicon 10K You need to construct data cells for and import the same data from Silicon's 10K off of EDGAR that was imported from Dell's and Apple's 10Ks. 10. RadiSys 10K You need to construct data cells for and import the same data from RadiSys's 10K off of EDGAR that was imported from Dell's and Apple's 10Ks. 11. Hewlett Packard 10K You need to construct data cells for and import the same data from HP's 10K off of EDGAR that was imported from Dell's and Apple's 10Ks. (The link to Edgar is provided under the Dell section under the Cash Analysis Tab, it is titled "Company Search") You need to construct ratio cells for the same ratios that are included in Dell's and Apple's 10k tabs; build cell formulas for each of the ratios; and calculate the ratios. ...
