Experiment #8 Multi-Stage Amplifier Design Executive Summary: The design was performed with 3 transistors: MOSFET’s common source, BJT’s common Emitter and a common collector. Each stage was capacitive coupled so that there is no problem with biasing the circuit. The total gain was to be desired as +400 (+/- 5%). The MOSFET and BJT both invert the gain. Coupling them together gives a non-inverted gain. The gain for the BJT stage was adjusted to match the desired gain. The final gain was calculated to be about +390 which was in the desired range. The input impedance was 12.6 KΩ and the output impedance was 11.5 Ω. The upper cutoff frequency was 170 KHz and the lower cutoff frequency was 73 Hz. Objective: The objectives of this experiment are to design, construct, and test a multi-stage amplifier.
