Lab 8 Answer Key 1. The tables shown below are two tables from a payroll system. The primary key fields in each table are marked with (PK). Using concepts presented in Lab 9, identify the design problems and draw a revised design that corrects those problems. Then create the revised tables in Access along with the necessary table relationships. EmpID (PK) Emp Name Hourly Rate RG01 Raul Graham 12.5 TT01 Tom Taylor 13.25 BR01 Britt Reid 11.75 WJ01 Wanda James 12 Emp Name (PK) Date In Time Out Time Hours Worked Hourly Rate Gross Pay Raul Graham 14-Jan 8:00 16:00 8 12.5 $100.00 Raul Graham 15-Jan 8:00 16:30 8.5 12.5 $106.25 Britt Reid 14-Jan 8:30 16:00 7.5 11.75 $88.13 Britt Reid 15-Jan 8:00 16:00 8 11.75 $94.00 Problems: Emp Name does not work as Primary Key for the work entity as it is not unique. The work entity needs a foreign key to the employee entity so the two entities can have a relationship. Emp Name should be broken into FirstName and LastName. Hours worked can be calculated from In Time and Out Time. That isn't all that easy to do in Access, but it can be done. Gross Pay can be calculated from Hourly Rate and Hours Worked
