1 Farley Conor Farley BMZ Lab Section BA Lenna Odstraka 23 October 2011 METHODS This experiment was started by assembling all the materials listed in the lab. Next, all the Petri plates that were to be used in this lab were labeled appropriately. Using a pen on small pieces of tape, each plate was labeled on the bottom, near the periphery. This included section BA, Team Kristie as the group name, Aspergillus niger , Penicillium camambertil, or Aspergillus flavus as the organism names, and the treatment associated with each. Next, the pH of the growth medium was modified. 5ml of the buffer was added to each Petri plate, and moved around so as to completely cover each of the agar areas. This was then let to stand for 30 minutes, and any excess buffer was poured out. Next, the growth rates of the fungi in culture were determined. These cultures started as a point source in the middle of the Petri dish. The age and area of the colony were
