Week 7 Discussion Question 5 How might writing summaries of key concepts and important information be useful in promoting effective learning and remembering? Writing summaries helps one store information in their long-term memory so we can all retrieve it to answer any questions pertaining to the notes taken. We, can, all use this strategy. By writing down specified information, one can use notes to possibly make it easier to take a future exam. I have had difficulties in the past remembering what I have read. Lately, the note cards are assisting me very well; so far, it's been the best strategy for me. Number six (6) of the summaries steps state, "write your idea precisely in a draft. In the first sentence, state the purpose of your summary. Follow the statement with each main point and its supporting ideas. See how much of the draft you can develop from memory without relying on your notes." I think this pushes one to be a even more effective learner by taking what you read a step farther.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
