International Business Page 1 of 3 Report 1 September 27, 2007 Student: Class: M24 Title of Article: India tries outsourcing its outsourcing Date of Article: September 24, 2007 Source: International Herald Tribune - Business Main Idea: India, which has become the leader in the technology outsourcing market, is now outsourcing jobs to other developing markets in the field due to ever increasing globalisation and the resulting international competition. Supporting Facts: According to Ashok Vemuri, a vice president at Indian technology giant Infosys, the future of outsourcing is “to take the work from any part of the world and do it in any part of the world.” The company is building back offices in places as far away from each other as Mexico, the Czech Republic, Thailand and China, and the US. It trains foreign programmers from these countries in India and then sends them back to work in these back offices. Other Indian technology giants are emulating Infosys’ example. Infosys’ main Indian competitor, Tata Consultancy Services, recently announced a new back office in
