BARRICK GOLD CORP. Trend analysis of the income statement The following trend analysis was done on the income statement of Barrick Gold corp. Three categories were analyzed between the years 2003, 2004 and 2005. Listed below are the categories analyzed in order of the income statement (which are Gross Profit, EBIT and Net Earnings). Gross Profit and EBIT The cost of goods sold rose from 52.5% in 2003 to 54% in 2004 to 51.6% of net revenue in 2005. The increase was gradual with economic trends and raised useable income (as we have determined from internet research). The percentile does not adequately reflect the actual numbers though. For instance in 2003, 2004 and 2005, the numbers represented are as following: $1,069 , $ 1,047 and $ 1,214. (The figures are in millions of US dollars) These figures show that Barrick Gold moved higher economically and within their industry than the common size figures show. Overall cost of goods increased with economical consumer trends, and this is where the increase in inventory as to be taken in
