Disabled Veterans 2 Should disabled veterans get preferential treatment over better qualified candidates who are not disabled veterans? The basic principles of Disabled Veterans Affirmative Action Plan are to promote Equal Employment Opportunity. This is a policy used by the federal government to regulate employment practices and initiatives designed to help eliminate past and present discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, or national origin, physical or mental ability, medical condition, ancestry, and age. Equal Employment Opportunity upholds this policy which allows all people to have the same access and opportunities without any prejudice. Veterans with disabilities are not always granted access to employment opportunities in some cases not only because of previous injury or medical conditions, but many time because of stereotypes about people who join and serve in our armed forces are not our well educated (brightest) young men and women in America. They are considered by some individuals, men or women who could not attend college
