How policy impact soldiers 2 Army policy, does it violates my basic human rights? In the army soldiers are asked to do things many times that they may not feel comfortable doing? Case in point, I was deployed to the Middle East 1990-91 for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Strom assigned to an Air Defense Artillery battery for 7 months. During the deployment my chain of command ordered me and everyone assigned to our unit to ingest pills supplied by the army presumed to help protect US soldiers against chemical-biological hazards. No one could explain whether the pills were safe and if they had any side effects. We did not have any clinical medical research data to confirm or deny whether the pills would reduce the effects of chemical or biological poisoning, nonetheless, I took the pills every day until I was ordered not to take them. Although that occurred a long time ago, and it isn’t a invasion of my information privacy, it clearly show and supports my argument that as a soldier once you swear
