RODNEY BUCKMIRE MODULE 3 – CASE OPM300 The concept of product life cycle applies to Regal Marine due to their many different models of boats to include bass boats, express cruisers, small and large runabouts boat and yachts to name a few. Each model has its own life cycle making it difficult to design new models as the old models fade away. Their operations must decide which new models will generate customer satisfaction and will the cost of developing these new models be beneficial to the company. To keep their competitive edge, Regal must decide on a new design prior to the end of their boats life cycle. The length of the life cycle last can be determined by the new design and competitors, and if customers are anxious enough to purchase the new model. Prior orders of these new models will determine if it would be cost effective to produce a mass amount of these models. In order to stay competitive, Regal Marine strategy is focused on the high end of the market by developing high quality products.
