21:01 The nature and functions of parties:  parties have a central function in making elections work and facilitating government  formation after  parties help to socialize politicians or school citizens on the world of politics  to be involved in politics you almost have no choice but to join a political party  because they serve as an educator on the job parties are between government and society (connector  parties are supposed to  take societal interest and relate it and express it to government) What are parties?    grouping of like-minded people or organizations to gain, exercise,  and keep political power (ex. Green party has a particular agenda and isn’t particularly  concerned with gaining power whereas the liberal party uses pragmatic’s and is more  concerned with power than ideology)  Party systems :  the configuration of political parties (not of one, but how they all hold together  how  many are there? Whats their relative size? Whats the ideological spectrum do we see?
