EE 4002-2 RF Circuit Design Homework # 3 Assigned: 2/20/03 Due: 3/06/03 Book Problems:  Chapter 3: 1-6,15,17,20,24,25,28,29,30 Design Problem 3  Your job is to design different matching networks for a 1.2 GHz RF amplifier with an  equivalent input impedance consisting of C L  = 2.1 pF and R L  = 25   in parallel. If the amplifier is inserted into an RF system without a matching network, and connected  to a transmission line with Z o  = 50  : Determine  Γ , SWR, % power reflected, % power transmitted and insertion  loss (in dB) Design three different matching networks for the amplifier. All matching networks need to bring the new input impedance as close to  Γ  = 0 as  possible.  The first network needs to be an L network (two components: series-shunt).   The second network needs to be a T network (3 components: series-shunt-series) The third network needs to be a Pi network (3 components: shunt-series-shunt)
