Unformatted text preview: frightening. Again, piracy is bad. But shutting down Napster, suing The Pirate Bay, or suing individuals for infringement has not in any way slowed piracy. If anything has hindered piracy, it’s the ingenuity of legal digital distribution agents such as iTunes, Amazon, Netflix, etc. Also, I’m not saying that copyright owners shouldn’t have effective legal remedies available to them. They absolutely should. Part of the solution to their legal troubles with non-commercial pirates is to significantly lower caps on damages so that they can actually be paid by the party they’re suing. Effective legal remedies are the solution, not blocking access to a website. That only invites pirates to be more inventive as we have seen in the past....
