Jamie Riedford Vinny Perry Chris Stammer COM 143 Chapter 10: Media Literacy Exercise Description Consider the books that have made a difference in your life. What kind of books are they (e.g. novels, reference books, religious books, children’s books, comic books)? There are a variety of books that have been important throughout our lives, ranging from children’s books to novels to textbooks. How did you access these books? Were they already in your home, did you go to the library, did you get them as gifts, or did you buy them at the bookstore? As a child, my mom and dad always read different books to me. My favorites were the Disney books that resembled the movies I loved so much. At a young age my parents enforced reading and constantly encouraged me to read my favorite books to them. We either bought the books at a bookstore or checked them out from the library ( Jamie ). We both accessed books from our public library or school library ( Vinny and Chris ). What role do books currently play in your life? Although I am currently in college and don’t have very much time to read outside of textbooks, I still possess a love for books.
