Jamie Riedford October 29, 2010/ Week 10 Questioning the Media: Chapter 7 Movies In your lifetime there have been numerous movies that have helped shape you culturally and/or socially. What movie has had a tremendous impact on your life? Was this a positive or negative impact? How did this movie change your life? Name only one movie. Explain your response in detail. The Blind Side is not only one of my favorite movies, but also one that has tremendously impacted my life in a very positive way. This movie shows the importance of giving others a chance, even when everyone else has them stereotyped. The way the Tuohy family takes Michael in to their home and their family shows how caring they are as a family and how they believe in doing what is right, no matter what society thinks. This loving and generous family does not care about societys stereotypes or the social norms; they only care about giving Michael a chance to succeed in life and making him feel loved while doing so. This movie has impacted me in so many positive ways. I am a firm believer in standing up for what is right and what you believe in, which is why I sincerely look up to the Tuohy family for their amazing kindness and generosity. The Blind Side , which is based on a true story, has taught me to look for the best in other people, regardless of their background and appearance. Some of the most extraordinary people in this world are not given a chance to succeed, and I truly believe that by showing compassion and love for others, we can all help make a difference....
