Impacts of Drone Technology on Our Society Drones are new forms of pilot-less aircraft controlled through technological innovations from a remote setting using radio waves and can fly to perform the assigned duties. The drones are equipped by numerous technologies that are used for surveillance and monitoring purposes. The emergence of new technology is accompanied by subsequent social, economic and personal impacts that mostly influence the normal behaviors and practices. The adoption of technologies alters lives of the people either positively or negatively by forming new methods in achieving the performance targets of the people. The use of drone technology is differently interpreted by the people hence affecting the general perception and behavior of the society. The use of drones is increasingly being adopted especially in the fields of science, technology, and society. Initially drones were used for military and surveillance purposes however in the modern worn the technology has penetrated further into societal and commercial purposes. The increase in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles has raised concerns leading to establishment of regulations that regulate the use of the drone technology. The use of drone technology has undoubtedly improved efficiency in tackling existing challenges across the world. Defense systems across the world have integrated the technology to improve surveillance capabilities for protection of its citizens. Drones differ in the structural size depending on their purpose. The military drones are larger in size as compared to the public drones and also differ in drive mechanisms. In most cases the public drones are powered by electric motors while the military ones have internally built combustion engines due to the magnitude roles they play. The drones are structured with two systems i.e. the movement system and the control unit (Kardasz, 2016). The structure of the construction of the drones is mainly done to allow for stability while the component is in flight. The movement system is characterized by components like the propellers and engines that work collaboratively to anchor the component in space and facilitate its movement. The engines supply the drones with adequate power supply to ensure it is sustained in the atmosphere for the duration of the flight. The control system initiates the flight movement and other reactionary motion while in the atmosphere like change in speed, and direction (Kardasz et al. 2016). A combination of computer vision, artificial intelligence, and sensory technologies enable the drones to operate effectively on the ground, in space and in water bodies. The drones are currently constructed by individuals, businesses and organizations to facilitate the conduct of their activities.
