David Etter Section: 0161 [email protected] FSHN-Nutritional Sciences and Microbiology and Cell Science I would have to consider myself a beginner when it comes to public speaking. I have always been able to speak in front of small groups of people that I knew and was comfortable with. However, when it comes to speaking about a random topic that is not part of my knowledge base I feel that I would be more hesitant in my confidence. I would like to focus on my abilities overall as I do not have any formal public speaking training. I would specifically like to focus on relaxing when talking in front of large groups of people. I would like to not be apprehensive if I have to give a big speech in the future.

Unformatted text preview: I would have to say the biggest fear I have when it comes to speaking in front of people is forgetting what I am supposed to say. Sometimes I get caught up in the moment and forget what my lines were. I would prefer to not memorize a speech because trying to use this method in the past has failed me. I would rather make key points on what I am supposed to say and try my best to speak naturally on the topic. I am a senior and will be graduating in May. I have been accepted into medical school next year (I will be staying at UF for the next four more years) and I hope that this class can help me with my confidence when speaking in front of people that I have never met before....
