Due Monday, Dec. 8) DIRECTIONS: It’s important to do the textbook reading (see pages listed in Topic 12 Part 2) either before or during the homework. Some of the exercises listed below include special instructions which modify or clarify textbook instructions. Data sets for some exercises are available on the Data Sets link from the course website. (Open data files as worksheets in MINITAB .) A. Trade Employment Open the Topic 12 Part 2 Notes to page 5. Familiarize yourself with time series procedures by following MINITAB Steps 1–5 exactly as shown on pages 5-6, checking at each step that you produce the output in the notes. (Download Trade Employment from the Data Sets page.) Also review the statistical reasoning at each step. Questions: (a) How many periods (months) of past Trade Employment residuals affect future Trade Employment residuals, using 5% significance for statistical tests? (b) The original data ended in December 1974 and in the notes we produced forecasts for Jan.–June 1975 (Months 61–66.)
