Ethical Leadership Paper Introduction In wake of one of the worst financial disasters since the 1930’s an ethical decision maker is the key characteristic when finding today’s newest leaders. Companies, now more than ever, are looking for leaders that not only focus on short-term profit but make long-term ethical decisions. The term “business ethics” is sometimes looked upon as an academic oxymoron In 1987 the Wall Street Journal surveyed 671 executives and one-fourth shared the same belief that “ethics can impede a successful career” and half of the surveyed execs “bent the rules to get ahead.” A. What is an ethical leader? A person who makes ethical decisions for a company Leads ethically, in the way they treat people in their everyday interactions o Their attitude encourages ethical decision making o The way an ethical leader encourages their coworkers can have a great effect
