Outline Obesity Paper Is obesity a moral issue? Do we have a responsibility to fight the rising obesity levels? Who do you think is responsible for the rising obesity levels (the people, food industry, national and state governments, etc)? What can we do to change the course of rising obesity levels? Factors causing this alarming rise such as economic status, education, geographic location, weather, etc. . Moral Issue Is it unmoral for food companies to advertise their unhealthy products directly to children In 1960 women aged 20 to 29 weighed an average of 128 pounds. By 2000 the average weight had jumped to 157 (Arnst, 2009b) Our Responsibility Needs to be more readily information on how to properly read and understand nutritional content We can teach our children how to eat healthy and how it will benefit them in the short and long-run Parents can be a prime example and have their children gain their healthy eating habits Need to change the fact that junk food is socially acceptable
