Quote of the Day 15 “The problem with nutrient-by-nutrient nutrition science … is that it takes the nutrient out of the context of the food, the food out of the context of the diet, and the diet out of the context of the lifestyles” (Pollan 62). Nutrition science has been right about some important health issues, but unfortunately has been wrong about some important health issues. Throughout the years, scientists have said told the public a ton of different information about eating healthy. Most of the time they are wrong, but usually the public doesn’t find out until later when the scientist find out and correct themselves. It might be complicated for scientist to examine even the simplest of foods, but they shouldn’t keep giving out the wrong information. Nutritionists need to devise a better way of examining food.

Unformatted text preview: They need to find a way to tell what foods will be good for people and which ones might harm people. I think much more research needs to be done before scientists and nutritionist can tell people what’s healthy and what’s not healthy. People could get seriously sick by listening to a scientist if they are given the wrong information. People who go on diets use the information nutritionists give them to follow. If there being given the wrong information they might lose too much weight, gain weight, or not lose any weight at all. People need the proper information so they can eat healthy. When bad science is produced it just makes it harder for people to decide what’s healthy and what’s not. People also need to realize that scientists can always be right, and that they need to make some healthy choices on their own....
