CE 4211 Spring 2009 The intersection analyzed was University Avenue SE and 14 th Avenue SE near the University of Minnesota campus. University Ave. is a three lane, one way street with eastbound traffic. 14 th Ave. is a two way street with four lanes on the north side of the intersection and two lanes on the south side. CE 4211 Spring 2009 For this intersection, a significant portion of the traffic was travelling eastbound on University Ave. SE. During the hour and a half spent observing this intersection, the traffic was fairly evenly distributed with the exception of the period between 4:00 P.M. and 4:15 P.M. . This can be attributed to an increase in traffic during the peak travelling hours or could also be attributed to human error in counting. The turn volumes were very small compared to the thru volumes. Left turns were more common than right turns mainly due to the fact that right turns lead into
