Zach Schatz November 3, 2010 WRT 105 Unit 2 Essay Reflection 1. I think that the first few classes of the second unit were extremely pivotal towards the overall development of the ideas in my essay. During these first few classes we took time to read and analyze the gender issues that Caster Semenya faces. After reading an essay about these gender issues, I was exposed to thinking about ideas in a new light. I realized just how much gender can influence one’s image and began looking at photographs in a different light. After discussing as a class the examples from Semenya’s life, it was much easier to set out and find new topics on my own. 2. Throughout this unit I have learned that analysis is more than simply observations followed by a reaction. A thorough analysis involves a complex and pensive thinking process. It’s about being able to draw certain inferences that one would not casually draw upon, and then finding support for that statement. After our class discussions on various essays, I have been able to grasp this concept better
