Zach Schatz April 26, 2011 Lecture From Social Business to Social Brand Michael Brito, Vice President, Edelman Digital Tonight Michael Brito discussed the concept of social business – social media – evolving to what he refers to as social brand. To begin the lecture he defined a few key terms, beginning with the “social costumer”. The social customer holds a growing influence by being able to now express their opinion in a matter of seconds to a large public. Because of this ability to express discontent so quickly, the social customer has high expectations. The second definition Brito addressed was the “social brand”. These are the companies that use social media to interact with the social customer. The next term discussed was “social business”. The social business is a cycle between people, process and technology. After defining these terms Brito addressed the question as to why it is important to be a social brand. Essentially social brand is social omnipresence. A social customer will live in their streams through Twitter, Facebook and other news feeds. According to
