  Take-home essay for third exam    (80 points)  Please write on one of  these topics.   Compose your own myth, legend or folktale using the same principles, themes  and motifs we have learned in this class.  Your myth may be about one of the  characters we have studied in the last third of the course, or about a real person  or some completely made up character.  The setting can be in ancient times or  the modern world.   Make sure your myth incorporates the following elements:   A)  What is its purpose?—for example, is it etiological, allegorical, a foundation  legend, does it teach a lesson or moral, or is it pure entertainment, etc.?  B)   Include  at least five motifs or themes  studied in this course.  C)  What theories  of myth from Chapter 24 would explain your myth?
