Guillermo Gomez-Pena is an artist in every sense of the word. His medium is his very existence. He had dedicated the time he spends on Earth to highlight the “fear” of Mexicans in America; his political agenda is smeared across the corridors of his real-life exhibits. Gomez-Pena expresses his outrage and disgust with America and her immigration laws by combining two opposing forces in alls of his work. I myself felt opposition while watching the film. I was overwhelmed with disgust and compassion at his exhibit. The “Temple of Confession” is dark and sacrilegious but it is representative and truthful. Gomez-Pena erases the lines of divide inherently set in the average, white, middle-class American and hybrids together two previously divided forced. His works screams of his agenda but you find yourself captivated by the beauty of the inhumanity he portrays. As an "activist artist", Gomez-Pena has a mission. His exhibits encourage a forum of discussion. His major theme is the fusion of America and Mexico, thus the heavy use of Spanish. He wants to open the borders of the United States.
