SLEEP AND SUCCESS3Sleep and College SuccessWhen entering college, many students usually expect to pass their classes by staying up to study and doing schoolwork, but what they do not realize is that it can actually cause them to fail. Sleep is essential for learning when a student does not sleep, it can impede their ability to focus and function properly. Sleep deprivation can lead to failing classes, poor mental health, dropping out, and many more problems. This paper examines the relationship between sleep and college success through data collected from a class study and three outside sources. In order to collect sleep data, each student filled out a sleep log for a week. The sleep log consisted of filling out daily information, from sleeping schedule to caffeine use. Once each student filled out their sleeping logs, the class came together and collated the information. The students had to then use the data to make a graph and a table that they could use in their paper. The data we collected was measured on a Likert scale, making it challenging for the students to make relationships between the different variables. This made the graphs flawed because there was no linear correlation or correlation in general with many of the variables that we recorded, so it was difficult to find two different variables that would make the graph legible.
