This is a more contemporary ceremony obviously when the author describes only half of the audience being Native Americans and a podium standing on one side. I imagine this as a more modern powwow that I have seen on my local news, not like the ones I have read about before where there is no podium just a drummer where the beat conducts what dance and song are to begin. The article next describes how the dancing conducts what dance and song are to begin....
