DC Millivolt Measurements DC MILLIVOLT MEASUREMENTS DC millivolt measurements are rarely used on automobiles. DC millivolts can be used to measure voltage drops across poor connections. To measure DC millivolts you must place the selector switch in the DC millivolt position as shown above. The mV with the horizontal line above it represents DC voltage. The horizontal line represents a steady voltage; a voltage that does not change polarity. The dashed horizontal line represents a pulsed DC voltage like the digital signal applied to an ignition coil driver.
