AA 320 Report Comments A few details that should help converge everyone’s ideas about what is expected in a lab report. First, some general notes: The procedure section is the only section that is to receive bulleted formatting. The rest of the report is to be in paragraph form. Many of the points awarded are for correct exposition & explanation regarding ideas, results, etc. Reports should not resemble a typed version of your lab notebook. Equations should not be in-line with the text. They should be centered and numbered (and most generally should exist in the introduction). Values should not generally be listed in paragraphs. Use tables to emphasize the values of interest. Use plots or graphs to demonstrate relationships. Present steps to calculations: o In general you don’t need to show values being put into an equation and solution calculated. o If the calculation involves a process then describe the process and consider presenting the step-by-step with substituted values in an appendix.
