PNP Transistors A PNP transistor is comprised of two large pieces of P-Type material with a very small piece of N-Type material sandwiched in-between. The small piece of N-Type material is the base of the transistor. It can either connect the two outer pieces of P-Type material together or not. The base voltage level controls the transistor and allows current between the collector and the emitter. If a decreasing voltage level is placed on the base of the transistor that is lower than the voltage on the emitter, the transistor's barrier voltage will be reached.
