Soldering Soldering insures a good electrical connection has taken place between a wire and a terminal. To solder a wire to a terminal: Make sure the wire and terminal are clean and free of corrosion, grease, etc. Heat-up the soldering iron. Clean the soldering iron tip by wiping it with a wet sponge or rag. Hang the roll of solder over the edge of a table. Melt a small dab of solder onto the soldering iron tip.
