Splice Clip Installation A splice clip is designed to splice 2 or more wires together. There are a few different sizes of splice clips. Pick the smallest one that will still do the job. To install a splice clip, perform the following steps: Cut off any damaged portions of the wires to be spliced together, you may have to splice in extra wire if the wire is too short to be spliced together. Strip approximately 1/4" of insulation off of the wires to be spliced together. Insert the exposed wire strands into the splice clip Use a "W" crimp to make a firm physical connection. Tug on the wires to insure they do not come out of the crimp. Crimping too hard can cut the wire strands and cause excessive resistance in the wire connection. Splice Clip Installation — WSU
